About Dr. Rodriguez-Cordova
Jose E. Rodriguez-Cordova, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at Orthopaedic Institute For Spinal Disorders in Houston. He was born and raised on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, living there until he and his wife relocated to New York so they could both complete their medical training.
Dr. Rodriguez-Cordova received his undergraduate degree from the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan, and then went on to Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, for his medical degree.
While in New York, Dr. Rodriguez-Cordova completed his internship and surgical residency at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn and a research fellowship in laser surgery, as well as his orthopaedic residency, at New York Medical College in Valhalla. Dr. Rodriguez-Cordova and his family then relocated to Texas so he could complete his fellowship training in orthopaedic spine surgery at the Texas Back Institute in association with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.
Dr. Rodriguez-Cordova is a spine surgical specialist and licensed in Texas, New York, and Puerto Rico. He’s also a member of a number of prestigious medical associations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Puerto Rico Medical Association, North American Spine Society, Houston Orthopaedic Society, and Texas Spine Society. Dr. Rodriguez-Cordova enjoys sharing his work and skills with upcoming students and served as a clinical instructor of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston’s Hermann Hospital.
When he’s not spending time at the office or with his family, Dr. Rodriguez-Cordova is out enjoying his favorite sports, including rowing and biking. He’s also a remote control airplane enthusiast and bonsai cultivator.
